Wolfrum Books

The name Wolfrum has been well known by art aficionados throughout Vienna since 1919, when Marie Wolfrum took over from Joseph Löwy, then the imperial publisher of photography and art. While in its early days Wolfrum's primary business consisted of buying and selling paintings, photos and other types of prints, after the second world war it expanded to include postcards, calendars and custom frames. Today, under the ownership of Hubert Wolfrum, the store is a hub for the Viennese art scene and the go-to place for hard-to-find monographs and historic prints. Each year, Wolfrum Books hosts up to thirty exhibitions for local artists in their first floor and basement galleries. Located just steps away from the famed Albertina museum, Wolfrum continues to celebrate the visual arts as it heads toward its 100th anniversary. But despite its historic significance Wolfrum has never devolved into a stale tourist destination. Instead, it retains its legacy as an integral part of contemporary art in Vienna with loads of character and charisma.Show lessRead more
