Singer Bookshop

Located on the premises of the Jewish Museum in the 1st district, the Singer Bookshop has Vienna's largest selection of classic and contemporary Jewish literature. Opened by Dorothy Singer in 1996 as part of a larger museum renovation project, this store's selection ranges from fictional works of up-and-coming Jewish authors to kosher cook books on regional cuisine. The non-fiction section has a strong emphasis on Judaism and Jewish history, and carries numerous titles from world-famous intellectuals like Susan Sontag. In addition to books, this store also sells collectable items like exhibition posters, CDs and postcards. If you're looking for a particular title but can't remember the author's name, don't be shy about asking Mrs. Singer. She curates the entire selection and her encyclopedic knowledge of Jewish literature is vaster than the Dead Sea. Show lessRead more
