MAK Designshop

The MAK Design Shop is a must for anyone interested in the miraculous world of design. Located on the Stubenring, the store at Vienna's Museum for Applied Arts is the first of its kind, and has been around since 1991. Along with the rest of the museum, the shop underwent significant renovations in 2000, when Michael Wahlraff redesigned the interior. These days, the MAK Design Shop can be accessed from both the museum side, as well as from the Österreicher Restaurant. (If you eat at the restaurant, be sure to check out the garden in the back!) The shop is packed with brilliant design ideas which make great gifts or coffee table-worthy conversation pieces. These include items like the moldable breadbasket from the Polka Design Team, or the ever-versatile "Help Hand" from Walking Chair Design Studio. Show lessRead more
