Le Shop

In February 2011, graphic designer Heide Stadler-Wolffersgrün opened Le Shop on Kirchengasse, right between Siebensterngasse and Burggasse, in Vienna’s 7th district. Her trinket sized gift shop specializes in unique, sustainable and well-designed products from local and international designers, and Stadler-Wolffersgrün herself has a self-proclaimed weakness for Scandinavian aesthetics. Sustainability and fair manufacturing conditions are paramount to the store‘s philosophy. One of her favorite products is a fully functioning portable radio made entirely of Indonesian plantation wood, which, due to the nature of the material, produces a warm, full-bodied sound. In a similar vein hardwood office supplies, including precision knives and mini magnifying glasses, suggest that this is one gift shop where thoughtful intentions will not be disappointed. Also on offer are printed tote bags, knitted blankets, cups, bowls, stationary, and original artist prints – to name just a few. Twice a year, Le Shop and its Kirchengasse neighbors – a close-knit community of independent design stores – organize a block party, usually one at the start and one near the end of summer. If all else fails Stadler-Wolffersgrün also operates her graphic design studio out of the shop, so you could always get your best friend re-branded!Show lessRead more
