Elektrobiker’s story reads like any happy entrepreneurial tale. In 2008, brothers Florian and Wendelin Fortner bought a bicycle equipped with an electric motor for their father. Disappointed with the existing selection of electrical bicycles, the brothers set out to build their own ideal specimen. After completing their first bike – a cruiser customized with an electric motor – they decided to make more. At first the brothers sold the “elektrobikes” out of their garage in their native Graz. One year after the first bike was conceived, Florian and Wendelin struck out for the country’s capital and opened their store/workshop in Vienna’s 7th district. The bicycles are assembled in the workshop just behind the showroom in what used to be a photography studio on Westbahnstrasse. Elektrobiker’s bikes are sleek, minimalistic, elegant and smart. The models come in an array of earthy colors in a beautiful matte finish. As of late 2012 customers can personally configure their own bikes online. There may be no better way to cruise the city streets than on one of Elektrobiker’s bikes – with speeds up to 45km/h you will dash effortlessly past cars stuck in traffic. Elektrobiker’s team takes care of all repairs and service themselves, so when you decide to shell out on a new ride you’ll be in good hands.Show lessRead more
