Street photographer Toni Tramezzini and fashion school alumna Stephanie Hofer are the self-willed owners of Eigensinnig. This spacious photography gallery cum clothing store, located on a baroque pedestrian square in Vienna’s 7th district, opened its doors in October 2012. The fact that not one of the store’s baroque arches resembles another reflects the owners’ non-conformist philosophy. Stephanie spent years researching and hand picking clothing for the store and what she has created has proven unique to Vienna. What is immediately striking at Eigensinnig is the consistent color scheme, which encompasses both the clothing and the photographs in the gallery. Hofer’s clothing selections are delimited by gradations of black, white and sepia tones that focus the attention to their intricate cuts and fine materials. Eigensinnig is the first to bring the Berlin label Esther Perbandt to Vienna. The line is described as “bold, cheeky, a bit androgynous, tomboyish, edgy.” Toni Tramezzini’s heart beats for street photography – an art form that was born in the early part of the 20th century with the introduction of portable 35mm rangefinder cameras. It is the spontaneous everyday moments in urban environments that define this craft, and according to Toni, Eigensinnig will be Vienna’s first platform dedicated exclusively to street photography – with approximately 8 exhibitions per year by international and local photographers alike. Stop in and take advantage of Stephanie Hofer’s personal styling consultation and look out for her personal label, set to launch in fall 2013.Show lessRead more
