Informed. Confident. Savvy. These are the chosen words bestowed upon the clientele of Unionmade, a menswear store that’s all about classic looks and quality materials. Since first opening in late 2009 on Sanchez Street - right between the vibrant Castro District and equally trendy Mission neighborhood, the shop has been touted by the likes of GQ Magazine and SF Weekly. Spanning two adjacent storefronts, Unionmade offers staples like Converse All Stars, Levi’s denim, outerwear by Barbour and button-ups from French Trotters, alongside the full line of Baxter of California grooming products and books on everything from food and fashion to art and design. They may not have said it themselves, but after browsing their inventory we’d like to add “well-rounded” to the list of adjectives that describe the Unionmade aesthetic and philosophy. Understated yet timeless, the shop’s looks achieve that elusive air of seeming effortlessly put-together. But just because they emphasize tried-and-true styles over experimental trends doesn’t mean you’ll see the same old things each visit; Unionmade is constantly scouting new labels both home and abroad to add to their stable of reliable wardrobe workhorses.Show lessRead more
