Miette Confiserie

Located just across the street from Hayes Green, Miette might be the sweetest spot in San Francisco. At this confiserie, a treat for the eyes and the tastebuds awaits—in its bright, light-filled space, you'll find old-fashioned confectionaries from around the world, handmade goods from local artisans set atop vintage cake stands, and colorful macarons and candies displayed in gleaming glass jars, all beckoning to customers. Owner Meg Ray founded Miette in 2001, with a focus on local, organic ingredients and a refined aesthetic that brought together classic American and traditional European techniques and styles. She first sold her goods from her own stand at the Berkeley Farmers' Market before opening up Miette's first location in the Ferry Building. In 2007, she opened up shop in Hayes Valley, bringing a colorful corner to the neighborhood. Stop in and pick up a bag of sweet licorice (the perfect snack for strolling the sidewalks) or grab a cupcake and people watch at the tables outside. Just be warned: each Miette creation is almost too pretty to eat—almost. Once you take a bite of your treat, you'll have no problem finishing the rest.Show lessRead more
