Le Point

Sitting at the corner of Valencia and 14th Streets in the Mission, Le Point by stylist and owner Pauline Montupet is helping redefine the startup capital’s sartorially inept reputation. “The idea that San Francisco is a city full of fleece jackets and yoga pants is a really antiquated notion,” says Montupet, whose career has kept her bouncing back and forth between the Bay Area and New York City. “The style here is really developing towards casual luxury,” she says. “And layers - we are all about the layers!” The boutique, which Montupet refers to as an extension of her personal style, flaunts well-made pieces with clean lines that still have an edge (think unexpected pops of color or unique detailing) from hard-to-find labels including Creatures of Comfort, Opening Ceremony, Tibi and Ostwald Helgason, set against a backdrop of white walls with light wooden accents. When curating items for the shop, the stylist uses the same approach as she does for prepping a photoshoot - coming up with an overarching narrative so that the pieces feel natural and cohesive. Except, in Le Point’s case, “I would wear [everything] myself or have it in my home.” With accents like candles, artisan chocolate and wooden iPhone cases also available, a visit to Le Point is like delving into the mind of a style maven - any fashionista will find it difficult to leave empty-handed.Show lessRead more
