Freda Salvador

Fashion-forward women’s shoe line Freda Salvador is the brainchild of co-founders and designers Cristina Palomo Nelson and Megan Papay. They first met while working for the same fashion comfort footwear brand, and quickly realized that they had a lot in common. Paying homage to Mexican artist Frida Kahlo for her “bad ass attitude” and Nelson’s home country of El Salvador, where her family has been making shoes for over sixty years, the duo debuted their first collection in Autumn/Winter 2012 under the moniker Freda Salvador. Nelson and Papay create shoes that they would wear themselves, describing their designs as updated classics with an edge. Whether it’s a sandal or boot, you can count on a pair of Freda Salvador shoes to posses an elegant simplicity and unparalleled craftsmanship - all products are made in a family-owned factory in Spain with whom the owners have a close relationship. The showroom on Fillmore Street, also designed by Nelson and Papay, shows off the latest styles in a warm, welcoming environment decked out in a vaguely Western theme that complements the line’s aesthetic (think pointed toes and exquisite leathers in a variety of textures and colors) as well as pays tribute to its namesake. Following the San Francisco flagship’s success, look out for more boutiques opening in a city near you!Show lessRead more
