Chocolate Covered

Located in the heart of Noe Valley, Chocolate Covered has been the sweet tooth’s haven since 1994. Owners Jack Epstein and Marilyn Sitkoff were inspired to open the store because it was a niche not being served in the neighborhood. They would have to go out of their district to buy birthday and Valentine’s Day presents for Marilyn’s mother, Bee, and figured if they had to leave the area, then there neighbors had to leave as well. Making Chocolate Covered unique are the 4,500 individual tin boxes, which are all made by hand, that cover the walls from floor to ceiling, each with a cyanotype image (a traditional photographic process introduced in 1842) from around the city. Along with the San Francisco images of street signs, schools, parks and business, Jack Epstein will also create customizable boxes with any image that a patron brings in, which can be filled with desired chocolate pieces. But more importantly than the collection of tin boxes, Chocolate Covered features over 90 different chocolatiers, from the Bay Area to Dubai and was the first business in the country to offer camel milk chocolate. Stop by to pick up a truly unique gift for that someone special.Show lessRead more
