Aria Antiques

You might miss Aria if you weren’t already looking for it. A small, unassuming sign hangs above the entrance. Low lighting makes it difficult to see things from a distance, forcing patrons to take a look closer at the items on the display. Opened in 1995, Aria functions as an antique curiosity shop that, in the words of its owner, features “antiques, art, funk and junk…” hand-selected from Europe and brought to the U.S. to be sold. Drawing from cities such as Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, Aria features a variety of  rare vintage ephemera from Europe. Gold-plated sacred heart boxes, relics from the early 19th century, are on display in the shop, while New Years cards from 1942 relate some of the more “recent” additions. From 18th century European maps to notary documents from 1699, stepping inside Aria is a history lesson within itself. For those looking for an iconic piece of Europe’s storied past, Aria is a destination for a one-of-a-kind find. Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
