Life took an unexpected turn for Emma François during a trip to Latin America in the early ‘90s. Then a student of economic anthropology, she returned from her travels brimming with enough inspiration to plunge headfirst into the fashion world. She launched Sessun in 1995, gaining success with her urban-chic designs that utilize raw materials, rich fabrics and stylish cuts. Browsing through Sessun's collection reveals little details that make striking impressions: overcoats with bright inner linings, striking leather clasps on a jacket sleeve, or simple jersey dresses jazzed up with a Navajo belt. Feminine and contemporary, subdued yet attention-grabbing, it's easy to succumb to the urge of adding a silk dress or an ethnic-print jumper to your wardrobe essentials. A clientele of mostly Parisiennes drop in on the bright and airy Rue de Charonne boutique not just for the clothes but also for the shoes, bags, clutches and jewelry. With frequent travels and collaborations with fellow designers, artists and musicians, François keeps us coming back for more with her fresh, exciting and inspired pieces.Show lessRead more
