Nationale 7

If vinyl records and vintage furniture seem like a completely random combination, you'd be surprised at their harmonious co-habitation in Nationale 7. The boutique, located on Rue du Faubourg Poissonnière in the 10th arrondissement since 2013, brings together the passions of Franck Pompidor (owner of Ground Zero, a Parisian record store that's been around since 2004) and Maximin Jacquier (who runs a vintage furniture boutique at the second-hand haven Marché Paul Bert in St. Ouen) under one roof. Nationale 7 offers a vast musical selection that spans from ‘60s psychedelic rock to the latest Arcade Fire and everything else in between (the rest of the collection takes up an entire basement, which you can access via a narrow staircase). Sharing the stage with the music are several of Jacquier’s precious vintage finds: eye-catching Scandinavian design pieces from the ‘50s and ‘60s in the form of lamps, lounge chairs, tables and couches. Nationale 7 also stocks up on Pro-Ject turntables and ‘50s-inspired handmade furniture under the label Maxbox Editions. Be ready to cancel your plans for the rest of the day once you're here - from the warm reception you'll receive and allure of being surrounded by beautiful products, you'll want to stay forever.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
