Milan Lunetier

As a member of independent collective Eye Like, Milan Lunetier in the trendy Bastille neighborhood of Paris does not resemble your grandma’s optician. Inside the glass storefront, the frames are arranged by designer along shelves and in eye-catching, gallery-like vignettes, showing off each piece without overwhelming shoppers with options. From the UK’s Cutler & Gross and Japan’s Matsuda to American label Oliver Peoples, Milan Lunetier stocks a diverse collection of trendy, chic styles. A state-of-the-art computer photographs clients wearing their favorite frames and automatically makes all the minute calculations necessary to complete the prescription. But the role of technology ends there – Milan Lunetier is proud to be one of the few opticians that still customizes frames by hand. In the basement workshop frames are meticulously filed, sanded and buffed in order to fit each face perfectly. In the mean while the customer can kick back upstairs and enjoy a cup of coffee while flipping through the shop’s collection of photography books.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
