Maison Francis Kurkdjian

Perfume is an intangible yet essential part of any outfit, a concept that French-Armenian perfumer Francis Kurkdjian understands all too well. It's no surprise that his brand Maison Francis Kurkdjian, launched in 2009, offers scents that go with anything from the most comfortable travel get-up to the poshest evening wear. After releasing Le Male for Jean Paul Gaultier at age 25, Kurkdjian went on to create fragrances for both prestigious (Armani, Dior, Acqua di Parma) and contemporary (collaborations with artist Sophie Calle and olfactory installations at Versailles and Fondation Cartier) labels. His flagship boutique in the first arrondissement draws inspiration from Paris' covered galleries. Leaving the street and following a narrow hallway to enter the store, you'll find helpful staff ready to guide you towards the perfect scent. You can't go wrong with the clean, fresh notes of the house's bestseller, Aqua Universalis, or opt for the stronger Lumière Noire or OUD. Couples can get matching Pluriel, APOM and Amyris bottles as well. Aside from perfume, you'll be spoiled for choice with other products that the fragrance house offers, including body creams, incense, Aqua Universalis-scented laundry soap, candles, and even a bottle of scented bubbles for children. Show lessRead more
