Legrand Filles et Fils

Following World War I, Pierre Legrand turned the storefront of 1 Rue de la Banc into a venerable purveyor of fine foods, wine and liquor that would remain in the family for nearly a century. Although the Legrand Filles et Fils of today is not quite the small, modest operation that it once was, the still-independent retailer pays the same attention to the quality and integrity of its products that its founding fathers did. The foyer of the centrally located shop is not unlike an old-fashioned general store, where shelves are lined with jars of handmade sweets and savory sauces. But heading towards the rear one finds Legrand’s specialty: wine. In the mid-twentieth century Pierre’s son Lucien began the tradition of visiting vineyards to select stock for the inventory, and to this day each wine is carefully chosen not just for its quality but also for the history behind it. The extensive wine list offers something suitable for every budget, and novices and experts alike are welcome to attend the store’s monthly events.Show lessRead more
