Le Rocketship

Paris' South Pigalle, affectionately called SoPi, has been edging out of its red-light district reputation towards a cleaner, more wholesome image thanks to the trendy cafés, restaurants and concept stores that have been popping up of late. High on the list of shops to visit in the area is Le Rocketship, a boutique-café run by Benoit Touche since 2011. Touche, who left his 9-to-5 marketing job to fulfill his creative and entrepreneurial calling, puts together a fantastic selection of crafty objects and decor that can make any design nerd's heart beat a little faster. The curated collection comes from far and wide, so expect to find something for every taste and style amongst the handcrafted toys, embroidered brooches, art and design publications, stationery, home accessories and assorted odds and ends. Many people fall for the charms of the rocket-shaped lamp by Dylan Design Co. and the Paris-inspired prints by Touche's graphic artist brother, which make excellent souvenirs. And after a pleasant afternoon of browsing, finish up with a cup of artisanal coffee or a chai latté at the in-house café. Show lessRead more
