Jean-Charles Rochoux
Jean-Charles Rochoux

Jean-Charles Rochoux’s modest but well-stocked boutique on Rue d’Assas could easily be mistaken for a curio shop thanks to the abundance of chocolate molded cameos, cherubs and deer trophies that catch pedestrians’ eyes. Yet surprisingly these eye-catching novelties aren’t the chocolatier’s most popular items. In 2004, Rochoux opened his own shop after years of working under some of Paris’ most famous pastry chefs including the legendary Pierre Hermé, and since then has established his own name with a line of bonbons whose unexpected flavors include Maker’s Mark whiskey, pepper, and basil. Rochoux is also known for his delectable chocolate bars, which come in a range of flavors depending on the geographic origin of the cocoa beans and added notes like hazelnut and rum. Each Saturday, the chef debuts a new creation centered on the fruits of the season. So despite the shop’s whimsical façade, Rochoux is serious about his craft and making unique sweets that your taste buds won’t forget anytime soon. Show lessRead moreMisa
