Du Pain et des Idées

After working in the fashion industry and hopping between Paris and Tokyo, owner Christophe Vasseur turned to the culinary arts, opening Du Pain et des Idées near the Place de la République in 2002. The pastry store is now an icon amongst Parisians and tourists alike, frequently winning local and international prizes. One can of course expect the traditional pain au chocolat or croissant but also be sure to try the unique variations that Vasseur has developed. From the cherry, pistachio or the praline escargots to croissants made with matcha green tea, his concoctions are uncommon if not nonexistent in other bakeries around the French capital. Not to forget are the various types of breads baked fresh, along with everything else, daily. In a trade that is founded upon tradition, Christophe Vasseur is still finding the space to experiment and innovate, seeking the culinary limits of traditional French baking. Without a doubt there is always a surprise awaiting you at Du Pain et des Idées. Show lessRead more
