Comptoir de l'Image

The non-descript storefront of Le Compotoir de l’Image should not hinder you from going inside. The piles of books, stacks of magazines, and (a few) neatly ordered bookshelves are a gold mine for those searching for rare and out of print photography and design books, as well as vintage fashion magazines from the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. Owner Michel Fink is no stranger to the history and the art of photography. A French native, he received his professional start none other than Richard Avedon, working as one of his assistants in New York City for several years before coming back to Paris to continue his own photography career. Today, Fink is an encyclopedia of knowledge on photography and runs the shop to it. He carries many rare monographs, signed editions and a selection of imported books from all over the world.Show lessRead more
