Zero + Maria Cornejo

Chilean designer Maria Cornejo knows construction like no other designer. To a casual observer, Cornejo’s work is similar to many other minimalists working today, but once you’ve tried on a piece you realize that the architectural work that goes into each design is truly remarkable. Maria starts with a fabric, cutting and draping while using circular shapes as a starting point for many pieces. Once a basic pattern has been drafted, she manipulates it with strategic accents like the sharply placed shoulder cutouts on a black blazer. Knitwear is quickly becoming a Zero staple, produced in Bolivia and emblazoned with the signature of the artisan. A cutout hem on a cobalt dress does wonders on the body, and menswear manages to straddle the line between generic and unwearable.  If complex shapes are not be your forté, you must remember that nothing can be taken at face value in this boutique.Show lessRead more
