Enter through a charming wrought-iron fence, and you'll find yourself amongst every tool you could imagine for your kitchen, and a few more to boot. Founded in 2008 and co-owned by Williamsburg locals Natasha Amott and Jocelyn Patten, Whisk is an oasis for local cooks. Here, you'll find Mac knives, the Japanese brand that nearby butcher Marlow & Daughters uses to carve its meat, rows of pots and pans–including Staub cast iron cookware, the beautiful french pots perfect for braising–and an large section dedicated to baking equipment, complete with Kitchenaid stand mixers. Sprinkles–yes, they carry those pearlescent colors–occupy their own special corner. The cherry on top? An impressive assortment of bitters with exotic flavors, such as aztec chocolate and rhubarb. It's no surprise that the shop received an award for the best bartending supplies from NY Magazine. Despite the prime location on Bedford Avenue, Whisk's mission is to remain accessible to everyone on all levels. That includes prices as well as skill sets.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
