The Reformation

Just a decade after debuting her line YaYa, clothing designer Yael Aflalo envisioned a newer, more affordable line comprised of reworked vintage fabrics, which she launched in Los Angeles with partner Chi Bui. Just six months later, the pair opened a second shop on New York’s Lower East Side. The Reformation’s East Coast location caters to the “downtown city gal who lives her days on the Bowery,” offering one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories that are bold with a handmade touch. Aflalo designs sleek, basic mash-ups—think ballet-dancer-meets-sexy Goth-chick—in pieces like the “Damsel” dress, “Frog” T-shirt, and “Tap” shorts, which are available year-round. Reformation also carries a mixture of vintage boots, belts, hats, and leather bags with a laidback, rustic appeal. Finish your look by searching through the store’s treasure trove of edgy designer jewelry from Pamela Love, Low Luv x Erin Wasson, Chris Habana, and Anna Sheffield. With eclectic all-ages styles, Reformation’s mission to provide timeless, reworked staples while remaining on trend is a rousing success.Show lessRead more
