Slope Cellars

With its friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and well-stocked shelves, Slope Cellars is a wine and spirit lovers’ paradise. The Park Slope shop specializes in smaller, less-known wines, but keeps an eye on price. “Our palates are more Old World than New World. We like to emphasize natural, artisan wines over trophy wines that cost a ton of money. I’m also sensitive to the fact that price sometimes dictates what people will buy, so I stock a large selection of interesting and yummy vintages for under $10,” said Patty Glynn Lenartz, who opened Slope Cellars in 2000 with her husband Bob. Prior to opening, the shop had been in a state of disrepair, so remodeling was the first order of business. Excellent service, however, remains paramount. “I am adamant that the store be non-intimidating and user friendly. I hate bad service,” Lenartz added. With more than a decade of restaurant experience, she knows a thing or two about wine and is more than happy to share that experience with New Yorkers. Show lessRead more
