Sakaya

Walking into Sakaya you might be tempted to select one of the sake bottles based on their beautiful designs and kanji lettering. But the owners and professional sake enthusiasts Rick and Hiroko Smith will be happy to help you pick the right bottle based on its delectable contents. The world of fine sake is just as rich and complex as that of wine, and it's Sakaya's mission to educate sake novices and supply those who already have an appreciation for it. In 2007, Sakaya, which means "sake shop", opened its doors as the third sake-only specialist in all of the United States. Here they offer a large selection of premium sake that they put together by regularly visiting breweries in Japan and simply knowing all there is to know about sake. You can also partake in their discovery process by joining “the sake of the month” club or attending one of the in-store tastings. The owners’ passion will immediately rub off on you whether you’re a sake newbie or a Japanese ex-pat looking for an authentic taste of home. To assist you in making your selection, every bottle at Sakaya is labeled to indicate which prefecture produced it. So forget all the things you didn’t know about the wonderful world of premium sake.
