Rizzoli has finally arrived on Broadway. The New York institution shuttered its famed 57th Street location only to reinvent and reopen in a historic building in Manhattan's NoMad neighborhood. Since its establishment in 1964, the bookstore has risen to the forefront of independent booksellers, specializing in illustrated volumes of photography, art, fashion, design, gourmet food and gardening. In addition to this visually stunning selection, Rizzoli carries a vast collection of current and classic literature, as well as foreign language books. Rounding out the shelves is a curated selection of CDs, DVDs, foreign magazines and newspapers. Rizzoli presents a modern interpretation of an independent bookstore, seamlessly blending old world charm and modern functionality, and mixing historical architectural and design elements with contemporary pieces to create an expansive, reverent space. The three grand rooms comprising the shop speak to this unique mix of art and commerce: browsers get lost in the shelves of the first space, and reach the very essence of Rizzoli’s DNA in the following room, which holds the fashion, photography, art and music collection. The last room is an event space that acts as nerve center for concerts, exhibits, author talks and private affairs. With its balance of timeless charm and modern edge, Rizzoli continues to be a key cultural hub in New York City.Show lessRead more
