Willy Chavarria

After years of collecting and selling vintage items found on condemned properties near their home in Palmer, Massachussets, partners Willy and David opened Palmer Trading Company in November 2010 in a former Sullivan Street knitting factory. With a commitment to sell only vintage or American-made goods, they designed the interior in the same vein, using 100% materials from old, closed-down textile mills and outfitted with gems like an old American flag and framed photos of John F. Kennedy, whom they credit as being a style inspiration. The ‘vintage purists’ - none of the fake stuff here - eventually began designing their own high-quality bags, shoes, belts, and leather wallets. They also collaborate on exclusives with other American brands, offering things like jeans from Hartford Denim Co. and Tellason, shirts from Gitman Bros., and grooming products from Jopo. Those with unruly facial hair also will be happy to discover mustache wax by Moustache Wrestler in a variety of manly scents. Further offerings include storied vintage jewelry like pendants with religious medallions from a closed down convent in Palmer, and good luck rings and horse-hair bracelets made in American prisons. In the end, Willy and David want to offer customers great, American-made products and the feeling they’ve left the city when they enter the shop. Stop in and we think you’ll agree they’ve succeeded.Show lessRead more
