Mike Affronti represents the second generation running this meat-centric family business and, like its surrounding neighborhood, Los Paisanos has changed a lot over time. What started as a "hard-core butcher," as in sawdust-strewn floors and whole pigs dangling on hooks, has adapted to the needs of its clientele. A good portion of this long and narrow store consists of an enormous display case filled with an endless variety of meat products. Mike Affronti prides himself on having it all - and if he doesn't carry it, he'll have it for you tomorrow. There's grass-fed beef, organic poultry, bison, venison, duck, sausages galore, special ground blends, and a whole lot more. Nine years ago Los Paisanos also started selling fresh pasta, which comes in 2-3 times a week and is frozen so it stays extra fresh. Additionally, plenty of other groceries have gradually managed to find a place on the shelves of the store. But this place remains all about the meat. For the true meat-lover, Paisanos offers roasting pigs, ranging up to 100 lbs, which are very popular among the young cooks in the neighborhood, who have been known to build their own fire pits.
