Orwasher's Bakery
Orwasher's Bakery

Orwasher’s on 78th street in Yorkville was founded in 1916 by the Orwasher family and has remained in the same location ever since. This lovely bakery was bought by Keith Cohen in 2007, who has kept the old recipes, such as the Seeded Rye, while adding new flavors like wine breads and morning spelt bread, made with local spelt and whole wheat from the Cayuga region, and the Artisan Ale, a malty loaf baked with beer from the Sixpoint Brewery. Loaves are freshly baked on the premises in their almost 100-year-old oven, making this one of the best stops for the freshest bread in New York City. Destination-worthy jelly donuts are the latest addition to this old-world bakery. These mouth-watering treats are made with a traditional recipe and hand filled in store on the spot with a locally made jam flavor of your choice. Try it with a fresh-squeezed lemonade and pick up a hand-shaped loaf of bread for later. Stop by this adorable white and yellow bakery for friendly service and baked goods that are sure to bring you back to childhood.Show lessRead moreDolly
