Mantiques Modern

Don’t let the name fool you. Although Mantiques Modern sells plenty of distinctly masculine items, it’s not just a fancy furnishings boutique for Chelsea boys. Owners Cory Margolis, Kenny Felberbaum, Steven Perelman, and Cole Ramstad have been stocking plenty of utilitarian items to suit anyone’s burgeoning style since 2003, including a large selection of vintage chrome, exotic upholstery, original lithographs, and luxury items galore. Check out their expanding collection of 1950s French furniture designers like Jean Prouvé and Mathieu Mategot as well as a huge variety of pop art, sculpture, optical glass, skulls, unique lamps, and unusual accent pieces. The 20,000-sq. ft. space offers patrons room enough to appreciate their evolving tastes while taking in everything from the exotic to the sublime. Uptown folks can also visit the Mantiques Modern boutique in Bergdorf Goodman’s department store, which showcases the owners’ extensive collection of vintage Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Hermes items.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
