Kaas GlassWorks

While the other kids at high school were at the mall, Carol Kaas was out combing antiquing. So it’s no surprise that in 2003, after quitting her job as a lawyer, Carol opened Kaas GlassWorks where she sells her handmade, reverse-decoupage glass. She travels all over hunting for images that range from country-chic flora and fauna to the exotic and even thrillingly macabre (we particularly like her anatomical skeletons). Whatever the look, the results are always tasteful, smart and unique pieces that add dimension to your home without breaking the bank. Kaas also does customized work, creating keepsakes of her patron’s baby announcements, love letters, photos, and more. But even if you go for something ready-made, Kass GlassWorks is a such a one-of-a-kind place that you’ll walk out feeling like you’ve gotten something made just for you.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
