Jill Platner

Jill Platner knows what she likes. Since opening her boutique in 1999, the jewelry designer has been consistent in her style, always referencing natural elements in her elegant designs. Some styles have been available for over 2 decades, like the silver and rawhide pieces that have become synonymous with her name. Every piece is produced downstairs in Platner’s design studio, with a handful of women working on producing unique sterling silver pieces like bracelets that mimic fish bones. Platner is a devout surfer and is constantly looking for inspiration in beach elements, so don’t be surprised when some pieces bring to mind river rocks, shells, and driftwood. Her collections remain a favorite among fashionistas and real women since Barneys purchased her first collection right after graduating Parsons School of Design. The grand space lets you examine each piece closely, and every one of them deserves a look.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
