Feliz is a little bit of this, a little bit of that – and it works. Owner Genevieve Platt, a resident of Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill neighborhood for nearly a decade, prides herself in her knowledge of the diverse community and its funky aesthetic. Trained as a textile and interior designer at the Rhode Island School of Design, Platt uses her artistic eye to find items that are beautiful, functional, and handmade. Whether you need to find a gift for your friend’s new baby, want to indulge in a dainty-but-different necklace, or are on the lookout for an original knick-knack to adorn your bookshelf, you’re bound to find something beautiful and affordable at Feliz. Platt’s thoughtful aesthetic combines simple and under-stated with boho and rustic. Simultaneously, the objets d’art she offers remain affordable to everyone in the area. Though doing so is a constant balancing act, Feliz succeeds with flying colors.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
