Doyle & Doyle

You don’t have to be a vintage jewelry aficionado to appreciate the wares in Elizabeth Doyle’s boutique. The space, opened in 2000, is curated (and decorated) like an art gallery, without feeling the least bit pretentious. Colorful couches make you want to recline and spend the afternoon trying on baubles and heirlooms, and considering the selection you might just spend the entire afternoon. Doyle & Doyle’s dealers provide pieces from across the globe, and since Elizabeth Doyle studied both geology and gemology, you can be sure that every piece is unique in both specialty and detail. Citrine and jade pieces are absolute knockouts, as well as Art Deco designs and miniature perfume-flask pendants that may have you upgrading from costume. Price points vary enough that you can feel comfortable whether you’re a consummate collector or simply looking for your first piece of precious jewelry. Once you have a gander at the wide selection of engagement rings and wedding bands, Tiffany’s will be that last thing on your mind. More likely you’ll be thinking about what to engrave on your 18th century Victorian necklace that may just become your family’s next heirloom. Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
