Bonnie Slotnick

Bonnie Slotnick knows cookbooks. She has worked in cookbook publishing and has been an avid collector of the tomes since graduating from Parsons School of Design. Her collecting days began when searching for specific titles required far more effort then looking them up on the internet. At the time, used bookstores proliferated in the Village and Slotnick scoured them often. Soon friends began asking her for specific titles about particular cuisines, and over time, her collection and clientele grew. Slotnick has now been at her snug W.10th Street location since 2000 and her shelves are stuffed with out-of-print treatises on gastronomic techniques that span every border, culture, and era. And her clientele is not only folks attempting to recreate grandma’s Old World recipes; professional chefs come to Slotnick because she knows her material. She enjoys meeting other food enthusiasts, so visitors aren’t treated simply as customers; they’re catered to and given plenty of attention. Whether you’re a professional chef or an amateur foodie, stop by Bonnie Slotnick’s Cookbooks for a rare cookbook. But it's wise to call first—though she tries to keep regular hours, her schedule often shifts, so she welcomes appointments. Show lessRead more
