A-1 Record Shop

In the mid-'90s, legendary books and records dealer Isaac Kaufman abandoned the Chelsea Flea Market to open the A-1 Record shop. Since then it has become an instituition amongst those who appreciate good old vinyl. Collectors and DJs flock here seven days a week to browse tunes covering an ecclectic range of styles. However, A-1 especially caters to professional lovers and remixers of dance music, so there is a lot of disco, soul, and hip-hop. When someone commits the sin of exchanging their analog music collection for a digital version, A-1 comes in and snatches up the goods. You can't come back too often to scour for that special find, because the high turnover rate ensures an ever-changing catalogue of records. The only product that's always in stock is their book of polaroids, taken over the year, of friends, customers, and celebrities.Show lessRead more
