What Katie Did

Those who style themselves on 1950s pin-up girls – or who simply adore pretty and unusual lingerie, should definitely pay a visit to What Katie Did. Founder and lingerie expert Katie Thomas started out in 1999 with a little market stall in Camden Town, and since then, her faux-vintage creations have been featured in the world’s most prestigious fashion magazines as well as several period films. A popular item is the signature ‘bullet bra’ with spiral stitching, which is available up to an ‘F’ cup (a bra fitting service is available in the store). They also stock an array of waist-cinching corsets and a vast selection of seamed stockings and suspenders. And if you really want to go all out, you can treat yourself to some opera gloves and add a finishing touch of ravishing red lipstick from cosmetics brand Besame. But if you’re not ready to take the plunge and go for a full-on vintage look, they also offer traditional underwire bras in a range of styles. The store itself is more like a girly boudoir, with Bettie Page printed wallpaper, marabou feather displays and chandeliers, and is a great place to spend an afternoon with friends.Show lessRead more
