Housing an eclectic range of design from dining tables and sofas to rucksacks, gadgets, and accessories, TwentyTwentyOne isn’t your quick in and out kind of place. With locations in Islington and Clerkenwell, founders Simon Alderson and Tony Cunningham currently have two stores in which to display their myriad products. It started with an aim to bring London unique and inspirational design from all over the world, and that wish remains today. Furniture, lighting and accessories by the likes of Artifort, Kappellini, Vitra and Knoll make for an impressive list of brands to admire. TwentyTwentyOne also manufacture their own products, updating vintage forms and seeking the services of inspired designers. As the name would suggest, they appreciate products both pre and post 2000 in their stores, with ultra contemporary products offset by vintage – whether that’s Swedish steel wire bins, Arne Jacobsen wall clocks or rare Thonet chairs. Inspired design comes in many shapes and forms but its not often that you can find so much under the same roof.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide.
