The Village Bicycle

Inspired by London’s iconic ‘60s store ‘Granny Takes a Trip,’ The Village Bicycle is a trove of kitschy and colorful wares spanning fashion, art, furniture and confectionary. With prices ranging from £2 to £2000, the store welcomes a wide range of customers, which includes not just city slickers hoping to get their manicured hands on the latest Mark Fast dress, but also savvy school kids looking to spend their allowance on cult Japanese sweets. The store was founded in 2011 by socialite and former night club owner Willa Keswick, and is, as one team member puts it, “a reflection of everything in Willa’s brain” - an explosion of ‘80s acid brights with Lucha Libre masks and glowing neon crosses at every turn. Stocked designers include Felder Felder, Lulu & Co, and Ashish, along with exclusive seasonal capsule collections from the likes of Craig Lawrence and Terry de Havilland. With its risqué name (in the UK the term ‘village bike’ is used to describe someone who has slept with most of the neighborhood), the shop is a cheeky nose-thumb to Notting Hill’s more conservative boutiques and a sartorial acid trip from start to finish.Show lessRead more
