Nomad Books

Owner Harriet Morton started Fulham Road’s Nomad Books in 1990 and over the past twenty years it has become the complete modern bookshop. It is the quintessential independent store with family and community at its heart. The large coffee shop provides sustenance for the adults while a packed children’s section is fitted with cozy corners and comfortable seating for the many events Nomad organizes. Fiction at Nomad Books is well presented, with staff musings often bookmarked in titles to help guide you towards what you’re looking for. Morton’s passion for books is only matched by her love of travel, to which the shop’s travel section can attest. In fact, it was the City Lights bookshop in San Francisco, which inspired the creation of Nomad Books – a fact that this neighborhood is undoubtedly grateful for.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
