If London’s hip East-End neighborhood of Dalston was waiting for one thing then it was for a good quality record store to come along. In 2011, that was exactly what happened when Kristina Records moved in to begin offering up vinyl delicacies and regular live in-stores to the area. Decked out in white, pale green and chipboard, the considered aesthetics match the careful curation of the stock. Established by three friends, Jack Rollo, Jason Spinks and James Thornington, the store boasts an eclectic range of genres, which includes deep house, techno, post-punk, country and world music. Being on Stoke Newington Road and off the tourist trail means that Kristina is geared towards local music fans and DJs – so don’t be surprised if record store staples like Bowie and The Beatles are missing from the mix. Taste and quality ranks high for Kristina’s owners and while there might not be crates and crates on sale, everything has been individually selected for the store so you’re always bound to find something of note.Show lessRead more
