Kinoko Cycles

Starting out life in 2006 as a web-only shop based out of Tokyo, where partners Max Lewis and Migumi Takeymai were then living, Tokyo Fixed gear was the logical outcome of a shared passion for collecting and building high-end Japanese track bikes. Now based in London, they may have started out importing and selling parts to a select group of enthusiasts, but Tokyo Fixed Gear quickly began to make a name for themselves as the place to go in London for Japanese frames and accessories as the interest in all things ‘Fixed Gear’ snowballed. The popularity of their London pop-up shops led them to set up base permanently in the heart of Soho in 2009 and aside from the imported frames from companies such as Kirin or parts from Nito, Tokyo Fixed Gear also specialize in building custom bikes of any style. All of this alongside a recent move into developing their very own track, urban, and street frames. So whether you’re a ‘Fixie’ fanatic or just looking for a design savvy way to whiz around town be sure to drop by Tokyo Fixed Gear.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
