Future and Found

Future & Found boasts an eclectic mix of home accessories and gifts, its main ethos being ‘simple, understated and uncluttered.’ The store’s founder Andrea Bates is very hands-on and can often be seen behind the till, offering customers her expert advice. Before opening the store, Bates had previously spent 15 years as a buyer for the likes of London’s historic department store HEALS and major high street stationery chain Paperchase. After noticing a lack of decent boutiques in her local area, she launched Future & Found in 2012 and it has since proven popular with locals and out-of-towners alike. Bates sources items from all over the world, including delicate ceramics from South Africa, elegant glassware from India and textiles from the UK. Younger customers will no doubt enjoy the shop’s quirkier elements, such as a bemused-looking knitted monkey by Donna Wilson, sat on a wooden chair under a picture warning that “children left unattended will be sold to the circus.”Show lessRead more
