Couverture & The Garbstore

There are many boutiques run by husband-and-wife teams, but what makes Couverture & The Garbstore particularly unique is its design. Founded in 2008 by Emily Dyson and Ian Paley, the Couverture section spanning the ground and first floors is Dyson’s creation, while The Garbstore on the lower level is Paley’s. Yet despite their distinction, what both have in common is a fierce belief in independent labels and fighting against "corporate" fashion. Couverture was formerly based in Chelsea and stocks women’s fashion and accessories, stylish children’s clothes and toys, together with furniture and accessories for the home – all from a variety of independent international designers. Garbstore is the name of Paley’s own menswear label, which draws influence from 1930s tailoring and incorporates classic techniques like tri-hole buttons that are sewn on by hand. The Garbstore also houses many other cult menswear labels mainly from the US and Japan, some of which have created exclusive pieces for the store.Show lessRead more
