Cocomaya

Cocomaya is an exquisite gem of a chocolate shop and bakery, situated just off the bustling, smoke-filled Edgware Road. It’s the creation of Joel Bernstein, former head of concept at Liberty, and accessories designer and fashion consultant Walid al Damirji. The shop exudes an air of playful luxury with its fresh décor of vibrant pink and lime and whimsical illustrations painted on the walls. Its delightful wares are all made by hand and concocted by an in-house chocolatier, who experiments with different flavours from around the world. Upon entering, you’re instantly tempted by the many trays laid out in front of you, bearing multi-coloured delights such as painted chocolate skulls or Bramley apple ganache. Products are free from preservatives and made from locally sourced seasonal fruits and Fair Trade South American cocoa. Customers can choose to take their chocolates away (encased in cellophane and ribbon), or sit inside and enjoy a coffee or some delicious afternoon tea. Everything is made on site, aside from Cocomaya’s own range of chocolate bars which are sold nationwide (the New York Sea Salt Pretzel flavour is particularly delicious). The bakery is decorated in more neutral tones, but is equally inviting, with delicious cakes and glistening pastries at every turn.Show lessRead more
