Located among the many tasty food stalls and eateries at the popular Borough Market, Brindisa is best known for their mouth-watering chorizo burgers sold off the grill at lunchtime (you can already spot the snaking queue before you even glimpse the store). Venture inside and you will be greeted by an array of delicious food from all over Spain such as olive oils (including Brindisa’s own ‘Arbequina’ olive oil), artisan cheese, many different types of ham cut freshly off the bone, chorizo, as well as lesser known Catalan delicacies such as Fideu pasta (known as ‘angel’s hair’) which can be used in paellas instead of rice. Customers can also sample Brindisa’s tasty wares at one of the company’s four restaurants – one of which is located near to the store itself. Set beneath the arches of a Victorian viaduct, Brindisa exudes a lovely, somewhat Dickensian atmosphere in which customers can simply browse or listen to the knowledgeable staff wax lyrical on all things connected to Spanish food. “People often can’t believe that we stock their childhood favorites!” notes store manager Anne Simonnet. “Tell us what your favorite Spanish brands are and chances are we sell them – or if not we will look into selling them.”  Known for their extensive ham counter, Brindisa organizes ‘Ham Schools’ throughout the year, namely two-hour evening workshops on how to tell your Serrano from your Ibérico with an accompanying wine-tasting session.Show lessRead more
