Andrew Edmunds

Whoever says history is boring obviously hasn’t visited Andrew Edmunds print shop in Soho. The Independent newspaper once described Edmund’s shop as a ‘time capsule of Georgian London’ since the shop houses the original fireplace, mantelpiece and paneled walls of the 18th century Georgian house it inhabits. But that isn’t the only trick the shop has up its sleeve. Drawer upon drawer inside Edmund’s archive are stacked with engravings depicting everything but the prim and proper. Lithographs of mass orgies? Check. Caricatures of prostitutes and brothel life? Check.  Images of demons attacking an unsuspecting aristocrat? Edmunds definitely has those, too. And in abundance. It is wise to note that despite the humorous nature of several of his prints on offer, the price tag attached to them can sometimes be no laughing matter. Edmunds top quality prints are a product of his careful attention to detail and refusal to tear up old books for their engravings.Show lessRead more
