Algerian Coffee Stores

For those bemoaning the lack of decent, reasonably-priced coffee in London, Algerian Coffee Stores is the locals’ best-kept secret, with cappuccinos at almost a third of the price of many high-street chains. The store is also somewhat of a London landmark. Established in 1887, the cheery red vintage storefront vintage is a nod to its heritage. What they lack in space (there are no tables) they make up for in sheer range of coffees. They stock over 120 varieties (and 80 types of tea) from around the world, including the famous Kopi Luwak, where the beans are passed through the digestive system of the civet cat. The store also offers a number of unusual sweet treats one wouldn’t normally find elsewhere, such as Dulce de Leche from San Ignacio, Granny’s Secret Rose Hip Butter from Serbia, Hazer Baba’s Turkish Delight in numerous flavours, and Fiasconaro Pistachio Spread from Sicily. Coffee enthusiasts can also pick up quality ceramic grinders, as well as traditional ibriks and Turkish coffee pots.Show lessRead more
