72 Editions

An offshoot of the creative organization, You Can Now (YCN), 72 Editions is a gallery, concept store and library all rolled into one. Tucked away on Rivington Street in Shoreditch, the store follows the lead of its parent company with a mission statement of “empowering creatives.” The store welcomes collaborations from both established and up-and-coming artists and designers to pack its space with unusual and exclusive work. Artists are commissioned to produce paintings and prints for the store in small runs of just 72, hence the name. And while prints dominate the wall space, the range of products available at 72 Editions is suitably eclectic for a store that places such importance on artistic freedom. You’ll find reconditioned fairground lights, hand-printed pocket squares, contemporary ceramics and our favorite item: fully operational neon slingshots made from salvaged tree limbs scavenged from the British countryside. Despite limited print runs and production, price points begin low, in a move that the store hopes will introduce people to collecting art. In addition to the products it sells, 72 Editions has a burgeoning art library in the back corner and hosts regular talks by creatives from a variety of disciplines. Show lessRead moreToby Orton
